Best 2016 Overall Match! Match 1: After winning multiple BG East fan awards, Ty Alexander's career is skyrocketing in direct proportion to his expanding ego. To go along with the awards and accolades, he has been acquiring all of the trappings and emblems of pro wrestling success, like an expansive gear collection and an army of devoted fans. But nothing says success quite like that elusive, exclusive acquisition of a wrestling protege. Plucked from the masses of Ty's fans, Charming Chase Adams is more than eager to be groomed to expand the Trophy Boy franchise. A stellar graduate from a local pro wrestling training program, he is lean, mean and an incredibly quick study in the ring. His inexhaustible ambition and infatuation with his own reflection made Charming Chase the perfect candidate to follow in Ty's footsteps. Decked out in the Trophy Boy's signature custom gear, Team Vanity arrives 20 minutes late for their debut tag team match. After all, all those pre-match selfies take time! Their opponents are all-American babyface beauties Christian Taylor and Charlie Evans. Veteran fan favorite Christian has been mentoring the lightweight phenom Charlie for this, his BG East debut. Charlie showed up with a ton of underground wrestling experience and a work ethic every bit as fierce as Christian's. Decked out in matching Old Glory gear and earnest as hell, the all-Americans hold nothing but contempt for their self-absorbed opponents. Christian and Charlie have to interrupt their opponents' cell phone photo shoot to finally get this match underway. In perfect synchronicity, the all-Americans break the narcissists apart in tandem. From an acrobatic handstand headscissors, harlie monkey flips Ty across the ring. Christian instantly rips the Trophy Boy wide in a humiliating spladle until Ty screams a record-fast first fall submission. The all-Americans make sure their opponents will remember this hard lesson by taking their own selfies with Team Vanity's phones. Although Ty and Chase's self-infatuation is a major liability, they are devastatingly dangerous once they turn their attention to the task at hand. They isolate Charlie first, dropping mountains of punishment on the rookie's lightweight body. Hung like fresh laundry in a tree of woe, Charlie's balls and abs are severely pounded by the nefarious double-teaming bad boys. A soul-sucking ball claw scoop slam nearly ends Charlie's wrestling career before it begins, while all the while his handsome partner watches helplessly from across the ring. Team Vanity also get to sink their claws deep into handsome Christian as well. Ty is exceedingly proud of his dragon sleeper and abdominal claw on his veteran opponent, but the Trophy Boy is seriously irked to discover that his protege is too busy taking more selfies to capture Ty's triumph on camera. When it's Chase's turn to have a go, he locks Christian up tight in an innovative double armbar suspended backbreaker that he's sure will impress his mentor, but Ty's too distracted checking his hair to notice. Perhaps putting two narcissists on the same tag team wasn't the brightest idea. Chase and Ty's attentions turn increasingly toward trying to outdo each other. Soon enough, the all-Americans effectively exploit their egotistical opponents' distractedness. They're back on the same page with Ty wrapped up tight in Charlie's Boston Crab while Christian smother's him into submission in simultaneous crotch-to-face headscissors. Charming Chase pays the price for tag team infighting as well, eventually knocked out cold in a double-team figure-4 leglock and sleeper. Now it's their opponents turn to take some cell phone photos! Rules are shattered. Egos are bruised. Fortunes turn on a dime as internecine infighting and vicious revenge bring this dizzying tag team melee to a shocking conclusion. You've never seen tag team wrestling this fast-paced, frenzied, and furious! Match 2: It's never a good sign when tag team partners rehash a match, blow by blow, to decide who screwed it up worse. "I was carrying our team the entire time!" Charming Chase Addams insists, assigning blame for every misstep to his tag team partner Ty Alexander. "I stepped up that whole entire match!" Ty snarls, claiming upperclassmen privilege in heaping scorn on the newbie. It's an abrupt end for the mentor-protege duo that held such high hopes for taking BG East tag team wrestling by storm. Ty has been coaching his fan-turned-teammate in his unique approach to pro wrestling for weeks now. He dressed them in matching custom gear. They studied for hours the best lighting for ring selfies. They planned their victory poses in painstaking detail. But if anything, Charming Chase may have learned a bit too much from Ty. In their troubled debut tag team match, the young upstart displayed a level of self-infatuation that rivaled Ty's infamous narcissism. Two egos this big are guaranteed to have a tough time squeezing into the same ring, much less being on the same team. Returning to the ring to nurse wounds and settle scores, the broken remnants of Team Vanity are bruised and bitter. The rookie's sneering ingratitude earns him a cracking slap across the face to get the grudge match going. They are remarkably evenly matched, having studied each other's moves for weeks. Ty pins his protege against the ropes and lands a slap to the rookie's chest that leaves a bright red handprint. Abruptly Chase turns the tables and shocks Ty with his own welt-raising slap to the chest. Every move is quickly countered. Every hold his rapidly reversed. They punish one another with the brutal efficiency than only a former friend and confidant can accomplish. Facing down the threat of being overshadowed by his ambitious protege, Ty treats the rookie to nasty humiliation. A stunning bearhug squeezes the air out of Chase's lungs before being slammed to the mat with authority. Ty crushes the new kid's balls with Chase completely at his mercy in a tree of woe. A savage armbar and wristlock drop the ambitious newbie to his knees at Ty's feet, sucking down pain and choking on the impulse to submit. "I wish I had my camera for this!" Ty smirks, expertly securing a figure-4 leglock that makes the rookie flop and flail like a limp noodle. However, Chase knows more about pro wrestling than just what he learned from Ty. Quite a bit more, in fact. The valedictorian of a local pro wrestling training school, Chase knows how to reverse a figure-4 leglock. And he's determined to execute every hold and move of his mentor with just a little bit more finesse and a shade more intensity. He manhandles Ty into a revenge tree of woe, pounding Ty's gut and stomping savagely on the Trophy Boy's face. "Not the face!" Ty pleads. "Especially the face!" Chase screams furiously. This match is precisely what you get when you combine superior pro wrestling technique, a savagely bitter rivalry, and out of control egos hell bent on exacting more than a pound of flesh in payment for perceived insults. The end is absolutely decisive, as one raging narcissist knocks the other out cold in a spine-jarring piledriver. But is it Ty knocking the cocky rookie down a peg, or has the student become the master? Match 3: Tag teams are formed under a variety of circumstances. Happenstance is as common a reason to partner up as friendship. Some tag teams are united by a common enemy. Others emerge from opponents who earn each other's respect in singles competition. Brute Baynard and Matt Thrasher teamed up for only one reason: technically, Brute needs a partner in order to claim the tag team championship. He's quite confident he could manage the challenge singlehandedly, but rules are rules. So he plucked beefy muscle daddy Matt Thrasher from obscurity and put him through a crash course in how to stay the hell out of Brute's way. Their opponents were brought together for different reasons altogether. Damien Rush's rich daddy paid Morgan Cruise a hefty sum to take the silver spoon out of Damien's mouth and make a tag team champion wrestler out of him. Morgan is convinced that his prospects would be brighter without daddy's sexy little rich boy tied to him like an anchor. But as long as Damien knows his place and lets the Mastodon do all the heavy lifting, Morgan thinks their prospects of victory are quite high. The heel captains of each team take the lead in all things. The pre-match trash talk, the gratuitous muscle posing, and finally the start of the wrestling action see Brute and Morgan take the bull by the horns and set the pace. They're well matched in skill, with Brute having a distinct size advantage, while Morgan enjoys the benefits of superior speed. "Come on, take him down!," Matt shouts encouragement from the corner when Brute cranks a vicious side headlock on Morgan. "No, no no!," Brute barks angrily at his partner. "Do not tell me what to do!" Moves and countermoves give an initial edge to Brute, particularly when he wraps those gargantuan thighs around Morgan's head and squeezes long and hard. But both seasoned pros are tough and calculating, with no submission anywhere in sight. Damien and Matt both plead to get tagged in, which serves only to irritate their partners further. In the face of a possible stalemate, the second stringers are finally permitted a piece of the action. It doesn't go well at all. Brute effortlessly stops Damien with eye rakes and breath-stealing knees to the gut. Chastened, daddy's little rich boy literally runs in terror to tag his partner back in. Morgan initially has a tougher time taming muscle daddy Matt, but a calculated kick to the balls puts the Mastodon back in charge. "Why did you let him kick you in the nuts!?," Brute is appalled. Every match-up between Morgan and Brute is expertly executed wrestling technique. As soon as either Matt or Damien climb through the ropes, the ring novices stink up the place with sloppy holds and poor follow through. "You know, your partner is pretty bad," Brute has to point out to Morgan. "You know, you're partner is pretty bad, too," Morgan concedes the obvious. Patience is worn paper thin. Both tag teams start to fray at the edges. Matt's flat-footed impotence and Damien's whining cowardice test the heel captains' tolerance for their mediocre partners. All hell breaks loose when finally one heel captain turns his full attention to punishing his now-former partner for the embarrassment of being associated with him. The tale of victory navigates its way through multiple betrayals and tested allegiances. No one emerges unscathed, but the team left standing very well may have a shot at claiming the title of BG East's reigning tag team champions, after all!
